Nepal is one of the many countries popular to have a natural wonder -Mount Everest. Known to be the largest and highest mountain in the word (about 8,848m or 29,029ft) found in the Himalayas. Offering Everest Base Camp for a challenging trekking experience situated at the southern side of Mount Everest in Kumbhu.
Visitors to the place mostly fly to Lukla airport from Kathmandu. The flight usually takes more or less 45minutes. Trekking upward is the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar. The place was once an important trading center between Tibet and Nepal. Now the village serves as a marketplace of the area where food and mountain climbing equipments are purchased. To reach the place it usually takes about 2days. The route is easy to locate because porters/guides come and go, most are carrying loads and goods. From Lukla, most climbers trek to the river of DudhKosi. 3hours further from Lukla is Phakding and 5hours further is Monzo.
Past the Sagarmatha Park entrance, the trail continues to the village of Jorsale; requiring you to cross 2bridges before the steep ascent which takes up to 3hours. It is necessary to take altitude acclimatization where you might like to visit neighboring villages of Khumjung and Khunde. An activity good for this exercise is to take about 2hours walk above Namche reaching Thame, a traditional village where you could find a Buddhist Monastery (NamcheGompa).
When you trek further past the valley of the ImjaKhola, you will witness the magnificent views of the mountains reaching Tengboche. PhunkiThanga is a good stop-over to refill on your stocks of food and specially water. After a long day's trek, climbers typically take a night's rest and acclimatization alongside, either on Pangboche or Dingboche. Pangboche, with all its scenic views of the trees is the place to just relax. 6hours of trekking sends you to the clusters of tea houses in Lobuche where you can mingle with most other tourists. Another 3hours to reach GorakShep where you will find a few more tea houses and a further more trek to the glaciers of Everest Base Camp.
Above GorakShep is Kala Patter. A 2to3hours climb will welcome trekkers with an exquisite view of the summit of Everest 8kms to the east, while Pumori to the north.
The trek on the way back may be harder because finding the route can be a problem together with risks of ice falls. Etreme care and caution should be at hand. It is also essential that you have food and drinks to fill you for the return trip. Later by night most trekkers return to Lobuche and the trek back to Lukla usually does not require rest days. The path back may be diverted through Pangboche to return to Namche. Pangboche also has tea houses and campsites in case you'd like to take a night's rest.
You have to reach Lukla before the day of departure to make sure your slot on your way home is still yours or you'll lose it; unless you have someone else to confirm your flight back.
