Trip Introduction

Nepal has many pilgrimage sites as well that are very important to the people and their distinctive and respective cultures.  Besides these important pilgrim sites; many included in the World Heritage Sites, These range from the Nuwakot Palace to Gorkha Palace, from Muktinath to Janakpur Dham. Most of these sites are remotely located, and have communities grown around them. These sites are important from historical as well from religious points of view. Most of these sites are also proven to be very good trekking routes, as in Muktinath and Gosainkunda  Tours to these sites are highly encouraged not only for religious purposes but also for witnessing and appreciating the various cultural and traditional ethos of this small but diverse country. Most of these sites are open throughout the year.  They are considered as living museums.


Day 01:Arrival in Kathmandu

Transfer to your Hotel in the heart of City. Overnight Hotel.If time permits, visit of Kathmandu Durbar Square in the evening.

Day 02:Morning visit of Pashupatinath Temple –

Nepal`s most important Hindu temple stands on the banks of the Bagmati River , on the eastern fringes  of Kathmandu. Pashupatinath is also one of the most important shiva temples on the subcontinent and draws devotes and sadhus (wandering Hindu holy men ) from all over India. Before commencing an important journey, the King will always viBachhareshwari Temple, Cremation ghats, from the northern end of the embankment you can see the Cavelike shelters, The terraces, look for the enormous golden trident rising up on the right side of temple, at the northern end of this terrace is a shiva Lingam, The hillside is now the home to the Mrigasthali Deer Park, Gorakhnath and Vishwarup Temple &, Guhyeshwari Temple .The Best time to visit Pashupatinath is on the Haribodhani Ekadashi – 11 days after the full and new moon each  month, Maha Shivarati and  Bala Chaturdashi in November / December.

PM: Visit of Buddhanilakantha (laying god Vishnu), Vishnu has many incarnations and in Nepal he often appears as Narayan, the creater of all life, the god who reclines on the cosmic sea. The 5 m long image of Vishnu as Narayan was created in the 7th or 8th Century from  one monolithic piece of stone and is the most impressive, if not most important , Vishnu shrine in the country.

Visit of Balaju Water Garden:  The 18th – Century Gardens at Balaju , now known as Mahendra Park . The most interesting are the statues in the right –hand corner as you enter the park. The famous Balaju Vishnu image is said to be copy of older image of Buddhinalkhanta. Apart from the Vishu Image, there are a couple of small temples, an interesting group of chortens and lingams. The 19th century  Shitala Mai Temple stands in front of the Vishnu image. The 22 painted waterspouts from which the park takes its local name are in the center in the park.

Day 03:Visit of Patan and Dakshinkali Temple

At the southern edge of the valley , in dark , somewhat spooky location in the cleft between two hills and at the confluence of two rivers , stands the blood –soaked temple of Dakshinkali . The Temple is dedicated to the goddess Kali, Shivas consort in her most bloodthirsty incarnation, a twice a week faithful Nepalies journey here to satisfy her bloodlust. Sacrifices are always made to goddess and the creatures to be sacrificed must be uncastrated made animals. Saturday is the major day.

PM: Visit of Patan City including Krishna Temple etc.. Via Chovar Gorge and pay visit of Jal Binayak Ganesh Temple. If time  permits, visit of Bungamati including Karya Binayak Ganesh Temple.

Day 04: Visit of Bhaktapur – Changunarayan and Nagarkot (sunset)

The beautiful and historic temple of Changunaraya stands on a hill top at the eastern end of the valley, about 6 KM north of Bhaktapur and 22KM from Kathmandu. It dates from 1702, when it was rebuilt after a fire; however its origins go back to the 4th Century.

Day 05:Nagarkot – Gorkha or Bandipur.

About 24 Km north of Khaireni, Gorkha was the birth place of Prithivi Narayan Shah, conqueror of the Kathmandu Valley and founder of morden Nepal. It is a major pilgrimage destination who regard the shah kings as living incarnations of Vishnu. The main attracting here is the Gorkha Durbar, the former palace of Shahs, and kalika Mandir built in the reign of King Ram Shah ( 1606 -36)         

Day 06:Gorkha – Manakamana  Temple ( by cable car 10 minutes one way ) –Pokhara.

Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 07:Pokhara  Full Day.

Full Day Excursion in Pokhara  visiting Mahendra Gufa abd Bat cave, Begnas Tal , Sarangkot ( the view  from  Annapurna Himalaya from Sarangkot is almost a religious experience. Devis Falls, Gupteshwor Mahadev cave and Pokhara`s most famous Hindu temple , the two tiered pagoda-style Varahi Mandir stands on a small island near the Royal Palace. Founded in the 18th century , the temple is dedicated to Vishnu in his boar incarnation.            

Day 08:Pokhara – Jomsom- Muktinath

Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom.

This trek from  Pokhara up  the Kali Gandaki Valley is among the most popular in Nepal, with superb scenery, interesting people and the trilside accommodation in the country. It takes few hours to reach Muktinath , the end  and highest point of our Journey. Walking back takes another 5-6 hrs to arrive Jomsom, but it is highly recommended to spend one night to be prepared to take holy bath in 108 water taps .

Day 09: Muktinath – Jomsom

We will arrive in Jomsom by late afternoon since we will explore the surroundings of Holy Muktinath.          

Day 10: Jomsom – Pokhara & Kathmandu.

Day 11: Kathmandu Departure
