Pokhara Valley, gateway to the Annapurna region where many a trekker finds his Shangri-la, sits high on the list of ‘must visit’ places in Nepal.
Pokhara is blessed with stunning panoramic views of the Annapurna range which forms its backdrop. The mesmerizing Machhapuchhre also called Mt. Fishtail dominates the scenery because of its proximity to the valley and can be seen from anywhere in Pokhara. Stretching from east to west, the Annapurna massif includes Annapurna 1 to IV and Annapurna South. Further away are seen the giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Manaslu (8,163m).
Pokhara owes its popularity to the enchanting Phewa Lake, and along its eastern shore has grown the Lakeside or Baidam, a thriving resort town of hotels, restaurants, bars and souvenir shops that allow travelers to relax and enjoy. This trek starts from the foothill of Dampus or Nayapul . In about 2 hour uphill walk you will reach the ridge of Dumpus. The trail continues to ascend to Pothana and cross Deorali (pass) to make gradual and long descent to Landrung. You get to see fine and panoramic view of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli throughout. After Landrung make steep descent to ModiKhola and another steep ascent about an hour (maximum) to the village of Ghandrung. Ghandrung is one of the largest villages in this area with shops, tourist lodges and government offices. Ghandrung and Landrung are Gurung villages. In those days Gurkha soldiers were mostly from these two villages. On the last day of this 3 day trek the trails from Ghandrung descends to Modikhola.
Day 01:Kathmandu (B)
Kathmandu arrival / Overnight at the hotel – BB basis.
AM: Half day sightseeing to Pashupatinath&Bouddhanath. PM: Patan and Kritipur including Kahtmandu Durbar Squre. PM Tour to Bhaktapur city tour and Changunarayan Temple.Drive to Nagarkot / view wonderful sun set / Overnight at Hotel in Nagarkot.
Day 03:Nagarkot – Kathmandu- Pokhara – 7 hrs
Early Morning, view sunrise over the Himalayas & Breakfast. Drive directly to Pokhara from Nagarkot View Point.Overnight at Hotel in Pokhara near Few Lake.
Day 04:Pokhara (B)
AM: Drive to Sarangkot View Point PM: Full day sightseeing of Pokhara City including Bindhyavashini temple, Davi’s fall, Gupteshwar Cave and Begnas Lake .Overnight at the hotel – BB basis.
Day 05:Pokhara to Tikhedhunga By drive and Walk.
We start our trek from Nayapul (1050m.). We would drive up to Nayapul from Pokhara. From Nayapul, we would trek to Tikhedhunga (1577 m.) via Birethanti (1065m.) which takes about four and half hours. Overnight in a teahouse.
Day 06:Tikhedhunga to Ghorapani (2870m)
We trek from Tirkhedhunga to Ghorepani (2675 m.). Today we could ascend down gently passing through Ulleri (2070m.) and Banthanti, Magar villages. On the way, one could see majestic view of Machhapuchhre (6997m.), Huinchuli (6441m.), and Annapurna South (7219m.). Overnight at Ghorepani.
Day 07: Ghorapani to Poon Hill 3195 m &Tadapani (2710m)
We trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3180m.) and then to Tadapani (2675m.). We cover the distance within five and half hours of normal trek. Early morning, we start our trip to Punhill (3180m.) to enjoy the sunrise view over Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m.) and numerous other snowcapped mountain peaks. Having breakfast at Ghorepani, trek to Tadapani (2650 m.) through the deep forests of rhododendrons, bamboos and oaks. En route, one can observe waterfalls, rocks, wild animals, birds and green valleys. Overnight at Tadapani.
Day 08:Tadapani to Ghandruk Village (1940m)
Trek from Tadapani (2675m.) to Ghandruk (1950m.). Comparatively, today is the easiest trek of all days. One has to trek through the forests of Rhododendron and oak One could hear soothing chirp of birds on the way. This trek is also offers best alternative for birds lovers. Ghandruk is a big Gurung village. There is a handicraft centre and Gurung museum. From this village you could observe good views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna (7455m.), Annapurna III (7755m.) and Fishtail. Ghandruk village is listed in World Heritage Site. Overnight at Ghandruk. In the evening, typical Gurung Cultural program will be organized on demand.
Day 09:Ghandruk – Dhampus Village (1750 m)
Today will be relatively laidback compared to other days on your Nepal trip package. The trek leads slowly downhill on even paths. There's no climbing and plenty of spots along the way to lie back in the grass. You'll also come across several traditional tea houses where the cheerful local women will beckon you to come over and try their tea.You'll arrive in Dhampus by late afternoon; this is the starting point for expeditions to the summit of Mount Everest. You'll spend the night in a basic lodge where you can have chance to meet the trekker who did Annapurna circuit trek, or you can just sit back with a mug of masala tea and enjoy the amazing view.O/n at Tea House Lodge
Day 10:Dhampus – Phedi and Pokhara by Drive -2 hrs
After breakfast, you will leave for Phedi where a driver will be waiting to take you back to Pokhara. In Pokhara, you'll check into the same hotel you stayed in at the beginning of the trek. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish in this friendly town on the lake. On a clear day, you can see the snow-capped peaks in the distance. Afternoon you can rent a boating at Phewa Lake. O/n at Hotel
Day 11: Pokhara – Chitwan National Park – 5 hrs
Upon arrival welcome drink & short briefing about activities I 13:00 Lunch I 15:00 Naturalist will take you on the culture to Tharu village, to see and learn about the ethnic people of Chitwan, Museum tour, sun set tour.
Day 12: Chitwan National Park
06:00 wakeup call followed by tea/coffee I 06:30 Breakfast
07:00 Dug-out-canoeing along the Rapati River to view water birds & two rare species of crocodiles; the marsh Mugger and Gharials. After canoe ride continue for Nature walks with trained naturalist to view the incredibly varied flora and fauna.12:00 Elephant bathing. 13:30 Lunch and Royal Bengal Tiger. You will also encounter many other reptiles & Mammals that have made Chitwan their home. In the evening, you can enjoy Tharu stick dance / 20:00 Dinner.
Day 13:Chitwan National Park Lumbini / 06:00 Wakeup call followed by tea/coffee
06:30 Breakfast I 07:00 Bird-watching tour: You will once again enjoy with experience many of the rare and migratory species of birds which numbers to more than 450 species, while walking along the bank of the river. Overnight intoLumbini.
Day 14: Full Day in Lumbini / Evening: Fly to Kathmandu
Day 15: Kathmandu I Breakfast and Departure to Kathmandu Airport for onward Journey.
