This exciting trek features a good three weeks trekking scales from easy to moderate trail, ending in the alpine of Tasi Lapsa Pass, also known as Tashi Labtsa pass, can potentially be risky while in the high passes. The trek approach, from Dolkata to Beding can be shortened for the physically unfit trekkers, as the route is not particularly rewarding compared to other treks in Nepal. The second half, Beding to Thame, including Ramdung base camp is an entirely different experience and it should not be hurried, but relished leisurely as this is a spectacular region, filled with character, partly with surprises and partly with exhilaration with a tinge of risk. It lies in the west of Mahalangur (Mount Everest) section and in the east of Langtang section. Melungtse (7181 m) and Melungtse II (7023 m) are inside the Tibetan region and Gauri Shankar (7134m) lies in the border. There are some fifty additional peaks standing over 6000 m tall. The preferred route is to walk in from the bus terminus at Dolakha (near Charikot), about 7 hours from Kathmandu. The trail can be well followed and is used by porters and shepherds ascending up to the summer Kharkas or grazing fields at Beding. There used to be customs check at Jagat where the climbing permit was vaguely inspected. The ultimate habitation is at Na (4180m). From there onwards, it may and will snow at any time, so patience is crucial here and this will also help to get acclimatized well. The Tsho Rolpa is a breathtakingly beautiful ice lake held back by terminal moraine. The undefined route goes along the Trakarding Glacier, and then escalates steeply up onto the Drolambau Glacier. The route can be altered the reverse way but the climb up to the pass from the Solukhumbu is extremely steep and lengthy.

A strenuous yet extremely exciting camping-style expedition can be done through the Rolwaling Himal to cross the Tashi Lapcha La (5755m) and into Solukhumbu. The trek should be indispensably well equipped for the anticipated snow and ice work, with at least one climbing Sherpa in the group. It will absolutely be worth all the pain to be encountered with the unique cultural exposure and visual drama. Even though you may not intend to climb the mountain, a climbing permit is mandatory for Patchamo (beside the TashiLapcha) to get yourself the access to the upper part of the valley beyond Tsho Rolpa. The fee is fully refunded upon the return to Kathmandu after declaring every bit of kit you took into the area. A trekking permit for the Everest National Park will be required as well for coming back from the trek.  The entire length of the journey Splendid Holidays Treks suggests is 25 days (minimum) comprised of 5 days Dolkata to Beding, 2 -3 days Beding and Nan Goan, 5 days up to the high camp near Ramdung base camp exploring and acclimatizing, 4 days to the TashiLapsa pass, 4 days exploring, at the pass and climbing Parchamo, 3 days to Namche bazaar, 2 days to Lukla. The slow approach to the Tashi Lapsa is to gain altitude acclimatization. Altitude sickness is not rare and always poses a risk on this trek.

This trek is primarily about unforgettable landscapes, and expedition like portraits. There lies an incredible opportunity to witness mountain sunrise and sunset. The difficulty varies from moderate in the lowlands to strenuous along the approaches to the Tashi Lapsa pass involving crampons and ice axes up the Drolambao Glacier and down the eastern exit to Thame. You will have a chance to ascend one of the two tourist peaks in the area, Parchamo (6187m) and Ramdung RO (5930m). If willing to do so, a climbing permit is then to be obtained with a fee around 350 USD for up to 5 persons, plus hire an accompanying Sherpa with a set fee of $350 excluding his daily wage. Tso Rolpa Lake to Thame across the Tashi Lapsa Pass is a real delight of the region. A panoramic camera should not be missed to capture the Himalayan bliss. A 16-35mm zoom, 35-70mm zoom for portraits and landscapes, and a 70-200mm zoom for details of peaks would be appropriate to bring along. A tripod is useful however not essential as you can always find a rock to place the camera. A remote release cable is also useful. Rolwaling Valley trek is widely popular trek of Nepal. The supreme reward of this trek is its picturesque scenery that will last in the memory for life time. The route of this trek follows through some of the most beautiful parts of Nepal giving you the opportunity to see Sherpa, Tamang and Chhetri villages with their terraced fields and dense forests. The Mountain View is spectacular from Tashi Lapsa pass, where this actual trek goes from.
